Account of China tour

The Athens Philharmonia returned to it's base after completing a 18-days-tour in China (21/12/2019 - 8/1/2020). The orchestra responded to the invitation of the Chinese Ministry of Culture, Parma Recordings LLC and JoyTitan Entertainment with great pleasure and visited most of the country to performe 11 symphonic concerts. The program included Music composed by European and Chinese composers. The concerts took place in the most prestigious concert halls of the country, including the Great Hall of the People in Beijing and the Grand Theatre of China in Shanghai. Conductor Michalis Economou with all his talent and brio lead the 80 musicians of Athens Philharmonia with great success, to great excitement of the audience. In some cases, Philharmonia was the first Symphony Orchestra to convey European Music Civilization to certain Chinese provincial areas.

During the tour, the chairman of the Athens Philharmonia Orchestra, Professor Nikos Maliaras, signed a Memorandum of Understanding and future cultural exchanges with the Beijing Symphony Orchestra.
